PAST CLIENTS

"Kate was recommended to us by a lady walking her dog along the beach and we contacted her about our new rescue dog, Jimbo, who was very nervous and showing separation anxiety. Kate’s advice was invaluable and within two weeks we moved from a dog that was unable to be separated from you for more than a second to a dog that was happily able to be left in a room. Within a month he was able to be left downstairs overnight, something we never thought we would be able to achieve. He can now be left alone when we are out without any problems. We have also attended Kate’s training classes which have helped make Jimbo a happier and more confident dog. He has also got his Gold Kennel Club Good Citizen Award! We would not have been able to do any of this without the guidance and techniques that Kate has provided."

"Without Kate’s expertise and common-sense approach to Jenny’s training I would not now have a young dog who has become a well integrated member of the family. She is a pleasure to own."

MY DOGS

My first dog, a family dog, was Scout, a big yellow Labrador. We got him from guide dogs for the blind as he had failed his training due to problems with other dogs. Scout sparked my interest in dog behaviour from an early age as it was clear that his difficulties with other dogs stemmed from fear and anxiety. Scout mellowed with age and training and became an ideal family dog. He is sorely missed.

Jess and Dylan were rescued as puppies with the rest of their litter from a skip in Warrington. These 2 very small Staffie/Terrier type mongrels were in need of a home and found their way to us. Owning littermates is certainly not ideal and not a decision to enter into lightly. In general I do not recommend it 2 pups is more than 2 times the workload, but in experienced hands both dogs developed into happy, friendly individuals.

My current dog is Vica, a Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer. She is an amazing dog but certainly a challenge to own. The breed have a high drive a need a lot to keep their minds busy but that is certainly not a problem in my household. Vica comes to some of my classes, helps out with difficult dogs by acting as a ‘stooge’ and comes along to my talks and lectures as a ‘demo dog.’ We also do some Working Trials training when we have the time.

Vica is pictured left completing the 6ft scale.
