We run a range of agility classes suitable for dogs of all breeds and abilities. Agility classes are held at both our Wirral (Glenbrittle Kennels) and Runcorn (Sutton Farm) venues (see the diary page for dates, times and venues)

All our agility classes are run as 6 week blocks with a break week in between. We also run 6 week Foundation and Pre-agility courses which are ideal for those starting out in agility either for fun or for competition. These are subject to availability as we only hold these courses when their is availability for you to then progress onto a beginners class and beyond.

OUR AGILITY CLASSES / COURSES

PRE-BEGINNERS COURSES

The pre-beginners course runs for 6 weeks and is designed as an introduction to agility concepts for dogs (and owners) that are new to the sport. As there is no high impact work it is suitable for younger dogs (8-12 months of age). However, it is important that your dog already has a good standard of general obedience prior to attending. Ideally dogs should have achieved their Kennel Club Good Citizen Bronze Award (or equivalent) and be comfortable in a class situation.

On the pre-agility course, you and your dog will learn:

  • Safe introductions to agility equipment
  • Setting up: waits, positioning, forward focus
  • Contact training • Limb awareness and balance
  • Basic handling concepts
  • …and much more!
BEGINNERS AGILITY

Beginners agility classes are designed to follow on from the pre-beginners course and are suitable for dogs from 12 months of age. At this stage jumps and equipment are gradually built up to the appropriate heights whilst dogs build their confidence and owners develop their handling skills.

In beginners classes, you and your dog will learn:

  • How to safely negotiate agility equipment
  • Jumping sequences
  • Teaching turns
  • Improved handling skills
  • …and much more!
INTERMEDIATE AGILITY

Intermediate agility classes are designed for dogs that have made sufficient progress in the beginners class and are ready to progress to the next stage. Jumps and equipment are at the appropriate height and dog and owner may be considering competing.

In intermediate classes, you and your dog will learn:

  • Refined skills on the agility equipment
  • Obstacle discrimination
  • Course negotiation
  • Improved handling skills
  • …and much more!
ADVANCED AGILITY

Advanced agility classes are designed for dogs that have made sufficient progress in the intermediate class and are ready to progress to the next stage. Dogs (and handlers) will be competent on all pieces of agility equipment at the appropriate height and may well be starting to compete.

In advanced classes, you and your dog will learn:

  • Course negotiation
  • Advanced handling skills
  • Preparing for competitions
  • …and much more!
COMPETITION AGILITY

Competition agility classes are designed for dogs that are currently competing. Classes are divided into groups based on grades (1-2, 3-4 , etc) and classes focus on courses and handling skills appropriate to your grade.

In Competition classes, you and your dog will learn:

  • Advanced Course negotiation
  • Advanced handling skills
  • How to improve times
  • …and much more!
